HOLIDAY PROGRAMME

30 JUNE – 11 JULY 2025


Wintertime fun, playing all day, working on crafty things,

making great friends, and learning new things to inspire young minds!

Monday

30 June


 BIRD CREATIONS – turns cardboard tubes into a chicken.

Make a chick in a nest; turn a paper plate into a bird & turn

cardboard into unique birds.


Tuesday

1 July


 PIZZA TIMES – make yummy pizzas and homemade garlic

bread for afternoon tea.

 CAT ART – use fabric & paper to make collage cats.


Wednesday

2 July


 EEL FISHING ALONG THE WAIPAPA RIVER – stroll down

to the Waipapa River to catch eels, relax by the river, and

enjoy lunch at Waipapa Landing.

 Turn paper plates into cute creatures.


Thursday

3 July


 TRAIN TIMES – use egg boxes & cardboard tubes to make

trains.

 Turn cardboard into cool dogs.


Friday

4 July


 STONE STORE RESERVE FUN – a walking trip with a

scavenger hunt, hammocks & ball games.

 Make aliens from cardboard tubes.


Monday

7 July


 DRAGON ART – make a paper plate dragon. Turn paper cups

into dragons. Use popsicle sticks to make a dragon.


Tuesday

8 July


 HIDDEN VEGGIES IN THE MUFFINS – make healthy

muffins for afternoon tea.

 3-D ART CREATIONS – wrap wool around a popsicle stick

frame to make a flower collage. Make a skewer sculpture.

 Bend pipe cleaners & thread beads to create a unique

sculpture


Wednesday

9 July


 OPITO BAY - take the bus to Opito Bay where we will walk

around the AkeAke Reserve, complete a scavenger hunt & play

on the beach.

 Turn a paper plate into a crown.


Thursday

10 July


 AQUATIC CREATURES – make a newspaper stuffed fish.

Use bubble wrap to paint turtles & octopus.

 COOKIE TIMES – bake cookies for afternoon tea.


Friday

11 July


 INLINE SKATING AT WAIPAPA – take the bus for a

morning of skating at the Inline Skate rink.

 Make a cute paper cactus.

 Pack up OSCAR ready for Term 3.


Based in the Riverview School hall, all

activities are supervised by Riverview

School’s usual OSCAR staff, with some

extra helpers for trips.

8.00am - 5.30pm

Years 1 – 6 pupils from all

local schools. $50 daily

and $60 on trip days.

Costs for materials and most trips are

included.

Enrolment forms can be collected from

the Riverview School office, the school

website, or directly from OSCAR.

Work and Income subsidies are

available to eligible families. Please

allow 3 weeks for processing.

WEAR clothes for creating and

playing. Bring a warm jumper in case

it’s cold.

Bring morning tea, a big lunch and a

water bottle. We will provide

afternoon tea.

Scooters, skates, and helmets are

welcome but are brought to OSCAR at

your own risk and must be used at

approved times only.

Every Day!!! Games, sports gear,

scooters, inline skates, construction

toys, dress-ups, movies, blocks, LEGO,

art and craft table, huts, and plenty of

time to Play.

Children participating in recreational activities

encounter numerous learning opportunities and

will, at times, encounter minor risks. Risks are

managed to balance maximum experience with

minimum risk. We reserve the right to make


changes to this programme if required.

Trip Information


WEDNESDAY 2 JULY - EEL FISHING ALONG THE

WAIPAPA RIVER - Leaving school at 9.45 am, we will stroll down to the

Waipapa River, and find a spot for a picnic at Waipapa Landing. Then we’ll explore

the track towards Charlie’s Rock and find a good spot to hunt eels. We’ll take

some bait and nets for those who are keen to try their hand at catching an eel – no

hooks. There will be lots of helpers. We’ll stroll back to school, aiming to be back by 2.00pm.

Children will need gum boots & warm clothing, lunch, and a water bottle. This trip is

dependent on good weather and safe river levels.

FRIDAY 4 JULY STONE STORE RESERVE FUN – Leaving OSCAR at 9.45am we

will walk down to the Kororipo Reserve & set up base under the large tree on the grass. After

morning tea children will hang hammocks, play ball games & complete a scavenger hunt. We will

walk back to school, aiming to be back by 1pm. Children will need gum boots & warm clothing, a

big lunch, and a water bottle. This trip is dependent on good weather and safe river levels.

WEDNESDAY 9 JULY – OPITO BAY - Leaving school 9.45am, we will take a bus to

Opito Bay. After our morning tea we will take a walk through the AkeAke reserve to the viewpoint

overlooking the Bay of Islands. Back on the beach we will complete a scavenger hunt & build

sandcastles. The bus will bring us back to school for 1pm. Children will need shoes, sunhats, and

clothing suitable for time in the sun, lunch, and a water bottle. This trip is dependent on good

weather.

FRIDAY 11 JULY – IN-LINE SKATING AT THE WAIPAPA

STADIUM - Leaving OSCAR at 9.45am, we’ll have a couple of hours at the

Bay Sports Stadium in Waipapa, using in-line skates from the Kerikeri Inline

Skating Club. There is a sprung floor and a beginners’ area, so helmets are not

usually needed. Children will need LONG, THICK SOCKS and something warm to wear afterwards.

The bus will collect us at 12midday, returning to OSCAR for lunch.

 First aid kits, your contact details, and cell phones will be taken on all trips.

 All external activities, which involve additional costs, are an extra $10, making them $60 days in total.

 Please remember that any changes to bookings need to be made at least 24 hours in advance by

8.00am prior to a booking during the holiday programme. ‘No shows’ after this time incur a fee of $25

($30 on trip days). Cancellation fees for WINZ subsidies are based on individual claims & hence vary

from these fees.

 Friendly reminder: A $50 bond is required at the time of booking for non-Riverview School students

to guarantee a place on our programme. This is taken off your final invoice for the holiday programme

The Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust - Experiencing Marine Reserves



The Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust - Experiencing Marine Reserves - EMR would like to welcome you to explore the waters surrounding Aroha Island aboard a kayak for FREE on the 21st of April. This event is in partnership with Pacific Coast Kayaks NZ and TriOceans. Learn first hand about the importance of mangroves, the marine life that lives there and get kayaking tuition from the professionals. See yellow-eyed mullet leaping out of the water, stingray in the shallows or spot a Kiwi on land if you're really lucky! This is a taster into kayaking - expect to spend ~50mins on the water. Fun for the whole whānau. Donations (koha) are appreciated.

Kerikeri rugby muster 2025

 We’re hosting our 2025 Rugby Muster on Tuesday, 25th February, at 5:30 PM at Kerikeri Rugby Club, welcoming all players aged 5-16. It’s a great opportunity for kids to get involved in rugby.

RIVERVIEW OSCAR SUMMER

 RIVERVIEW OSCAR SUMMER

HOLIDAY PROGRAMME

16 – 24 DECEMBER 2024 &

20 – 31 JANUARY 2025


Before Christmas, it’s all about festive cheer, making crafts & outings. In

January swing into some scorching summer fun, get arty & hang out with

friends. Don’t forget your sun hat!


Riverview OSCAR programme is now open for bookings for the forthcoming

school holidays. We love to get out and about in our local area with our

fun eel fishing trips, a trip to the movies, fun at mini golf & the Rainbow

Falls track, Kerikeri High School pool & some skating fun at Waipapa’s

Inline Skating rink.


We have lots of fun activities, arts ‘n crafts, toys of all shapes & size in

our big school hall plus playgrounds, sandpit and lots more.

The cost is $50 daily & $60 on trips days (Weds & Fri), this includes all

materials and a yummy afternoon tea. We are open 8am to 5.30pm

weekdays. WINZ subsidies are available to eligible families.
