School Cross Country

Thanks to everyone involved, students, staff and helpers we managed to run the school cross country during this week. The age group fields were decimated as a result of children at home sick, but those who were able to be here gave it their all.

As usual a relaxed event, everyone seemed to have fun and all the children made a big effort to do their best and all finished their runs. distances ranged from 700 metres to 3.5km.

Here's a few photos from the day.

Sickness and Absence

Kia ora koutou

With the onset of winter we are seeing a significant impact of sickness on the whole school community. We have a much reduced roll every day as more children and staff are suffering from the effects of a range of winter ailments. As expected, I think, this may be the result of the past two years of response to Covid?

We wanted to let you know that we are doing what we can to ensure the school is running as close to normal on a day to day basis. We remain committed to this environment remaining calm, safe and settled for the children. I would like to thank all our staff who are holding things together under difficult conditions.

Thank you also to parents and whānau who are keeping sick children at home, we know this may be placing extreme pressure on your own commitments to work and otherwise.

For you at home who need a little learning support from us our school website has a link to a range of resources that students can use, https://www.boi.ac.nz/home-learning. If we can be of any more help or you have questions or concerns please don't hesitate to be in touch with your classroom teacher, Toni in the office or myself.

Ngā mihi

Matariki Activities at The Stone Store Kerikeri, for all our tamariki on Friday, 24th June 2022

 Kia Ora Koutou

We are excited to announce that we are having a special day at The Stone Store this year, especially for all our tamariki to help celebrate Matariki.

We will have 2 story readings of “THE SEVEN KITES OF MATARIKI” upstairs in the museum at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm on Friday 24th June 2022 by one of our experienced guides.

Also on this day, children can come and visit us at any time and plant a couple of  Winter Broccoli Seeds in a handmade newspaper pot, so they can take these home, replant them and watch them grow.

We hope your beautiful tamariki can come and join us on the 24th June 2022.
